Unidentified Flying Podcast Episode 13

What are soccer!? What are SOCCER!?!? Oklahoma is known for it's football but we're not talking about that kind of football. We're talking professional soccer. Maybe you're not into the sport. Maybe you just don't know that much about it. What is this trend that is now responsible for Oklahoma currently sporting 3 semi-pro teams in the state? Dogs and cats, living together. What does it all mean ?!?! Soccer novices Drue and Brad talk about their close encounters with the sport.

  1. First time listener, and also an Oklahoman podcaster. Curious as to your setup and post software, you still seem to have some issues with background noise/gate, the abrupt stop is distracting, but overall not bad quality. What is the relevance of the podcast title? Does it identify you with your brand?
Really interested in hearing your NES podcast coming up.

  2. Well it's a pretty cheap setup. If it's just us, 2 headsets and a program called VoiceMeeter, then Audacity. I think Drue was trying some different adjustments with gate and trying to get rid of the background noise but wasn't successful. I know more about it but he sets it up when we do a show and has been learning as we go. We would love to have it all down pat but we obviously don't. We'll get there. Every now and then we get an episode that we didn't mess with anything and it sounds just fine. Basically, our show is the laboratory. Time is also an issue. I just had a kid not too long ago and I'm thankful I just get the show out and we can get together and even record. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    What podcast do you do?

    2. www.redsixtogoldencorral.com it is a nerd culture podcast, but it seems we have some overlap. We use a mixer, 3 mics, CuBase for recording, and Audacity for editing. Voicemeeter is awesome, do you use Banana? We don't have much need for it though since we have a hardware mixer. As for background noise it is far better to have audacity take it out rather than trying to gate it out. Gating will cause abrupt silences making it sound like the listener has been disconnected. Any chance you guys are North OKC or Edmond, wouldn't mind chatting up what technics you use, always looking to learn more.

  3. Just got Banana but haven't done anything with it. I didn't even know you could do that with Audacity. We're n the metro and I travel all over the city so it wouldn't be hard to meet up. Send us an email with some contact info and we'll figure it out.
